Evoice Review
eVoice is a service which provides messaging and communication services to individuals and businesses. The service is able to automatically route incoming calls to an employee or location. The fundamentals of the eVoice system are that the client chooses a phone number for their business, a professionally recorded greeting pre-recorded by the client answers incoming calls, incoming calls are then routed to an employee or location, and voicemails can be transcribed and sent as a text message or email.
Choice of Phone Numbers
The eVoicecom service will assign both a toll free phone number and a local phone number, if desired. A choice of United States or Canadian phone number is available. Toll free numbers are available in the United States with the 866, 877, or 888 prefixes. Local phone numbers are available for 3,500 cities in 49 countries.
eVoice offers small business owners the option to have a toll free phone number which may result in increased sales volumes. The logic behind a small business having a toll free phone number is that customers are more likely to call and inquire about a product when they know the call is free. In addition, a toll free phone number can give the impression that the company is large which increases the business’ credibility. eVoice also offers vanity numbers (ex. 1-800-BUYTHIS) for businesses, which are easier for customers to remember.
System Requirements
A phone line is not necessary to set up eVoice, however a working phone number is required if the customer wants to use the Click to Call feature and answer the call via phone. Any phone with an active 10 digit phone number (i.e. mobile phones, home phones, office phones, and voice over internet protocol phones) are compatible with eVoice.
The eVoice system is compatible with both Macintosh and Windows operating systems and can be used with a standard web browser and internet access. No additional software is needed to operate eVoice. A phone application is currently in beta testing and is available for download from the eVoice website for the IPhone, Blackberry, Droid, and Trade mobile phones. eVoice has links to the social networking sites YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
eVoice Features
Core features of the service include an auto attendant, call routing, and voicemail to text transcription. The auto attendant has the ability to route calls to different individuals, giving the appearance of a company with multiple departments and employees. Call routing directs calls to either a home phone, mobile phone, or any other phone number listed. The voicemail to text feature automatically transcribes voice messages and delivers them as a text message or email.
eVoice features are accessible to customers and can be modified through the eVoice website www.evoice.com. Customers can visit the eVoice website to view screenshots of features such as multiple extensions, voicemail, conference calling, professional greetings, sequential ringing, music on hold, online administration, speed dial, call usage, and call history. Call screening and announce is an option which allows the user to hear the name of the person calling and decide whether to answer the call or transfer the call to voicemail.
How eVoice Works
When eVoice receives an incoming call, the customer can expect the following to occur:
- An automated greeting, selected by the customer, answers the call.
- The call is then forward to a phone, sent directly to voicemail, or the caller is prompted to enter an extension by the auto attendant, depending on how the service is configured by the customer.
- If Call Screening has been set up, the customer will hear the caller’s name and has the option to take the call. If the customer decides not to take the call, the caller is sent to voicemail.
- Voicemails can be accessed by phone, can be transcribed and sent via text message or email, or are accessible online at the eVoice website.
